In accordance with previously agreed guiding principles, the development of the Partnership Initiative will involve the use of effective mechanisms and tools.

The workplans for each Initiative, as they evolve, may wish to include consideration of the following key mechanisms and tools, to be used by members and/or provided as services by the Secretariat for the Mountain Partnership, in close collaboration with the Mountain Forum network, such as:

1. Networking,
2. Information (collection, analysis, dissemination and exchange),
3. Awareness-raising and advocacy,
4. fundraising and promotion of investments.

QUESTIONS FOR THE E-CONSULTATION:

A. Do you agree with the above identified mechanisms and tools, to be used by members and/or provided as services by the Secretariat for the Mountain Partnership?

Mountain Research and Development is in a good position to engage in networking, information exchange, and awareness raising and advocacy. These mechanisms and tools are already a part of our mandate and among our principal functions. We believe that once the Partnership working groups are functioning well, with significant outputs, that MRD can play an even more enhanced role with regard to these tools. Specifically, we envision additional networking to strengthen relations among members of the Partnership, particularly those who wish to publish significant development related research results. This, in turn, will serve as a form of dissemination and exchange of experience. MRD also hopes to continue publishing news from the Partnership Secretariat, or from key members, in an attempt to enhance awareness raising and advocacy.

B. Do you have suggestions on how the mechanisms could be implemented at all levels, particularly at the country and/or regional level?

Each member of the Partnership must make specific networking efforts with institutions, etc. in their respective countries. This will help ensure that the Partnership goals have effect at the most significant levels. MRD will do this in conjunction with the Centre for Development and Environment at the University of Berne, where its editorial office is located. CDE, a Partnership member as well, has extensive contacts and networks in projects around the world, and in international organizations.

The efforts of CDE and MRD will thus lead to some synergies in this respect. We urge other members to think along similar lines of networking/synergy effects.

C. Would you like to suggest some other mechanisms and tools that could be used/implemented by members and/or services to be provided by the Secretariat for the Mountain Partnership, in collaboration with the Mountain Forum?

Other mechanisms and tools should most likely develop out of the evolving needs of the Partnership, depending on needs that arise.

Los planes de trabajo para cada iniciativa, como han evolucionado, deberían considear los siguientes mecanismos y herramientas claves, a ser usadas por los miembros/o provistas por el Secretariado de Mountain Partnership, en colaboración estrecha con Mountain Forum, tales como:

Mountain Research and Development esta en una buena posición de enlace con las redes, y de creación de interes. Estos mecanismos y herramientas son parte de nuestro mandato y una de nuestras principales funciones. Con resultados significativos, MRD puede jugar un rol mas importante con respecto a estas herramientas. Específicamente, nosotros vemos que para mejorar las relacion entre los miembros, es necesario una adicional comunicación entre las redes, particularmente aquellos que desean publicar resultados de investigación relacionada al desarrollo. Esto, a cambio, servira como una forma de diseminación e intercambio de experiencias. MRD tambien espera continuar la publicación de noticias sobre el Secretariado de Mountain Partnership, con el objeto de lograr un mayor interes y apoyo.

B. Tienes sugerencias sobre como los mecanismos pueden ser implementados a todos los niveles, particularmente a nivel de pais y/o regional?

Cada miembro de la Alianza debe iniciar comunicaciones especificas con las instituciones, etc en sus respectivos paises. Esto ayudara a asegurar que los objetivos de la Alianza tengan un efecto mas significativo a todos los niveles. MRD realizara esto en conjunción con el “Centre for Development and Environment-CDE” de la Universidad de Berne, donde la oficina editorial esta ubicada. CDE, asimismo un miembros de la Alianza, tiene una extensivos contactos y relaciones con proyectos en todo el mundo, y con organizaciones internacionales.

Mountain Research and Development est bien placé pour créer des réseaux, échanger des informations, et lancer des campagnes de sensibilisation et de promotion. Ces mécanismes et outils font déjà partie de notre mandat et constituent une de nos fonctions principales. Nous estimons qu’une fois que les groupes de travail du Partenariat fonctionnent bien, avec des résultats significatifs, MRD peut jouer un rôle accru pour ce qui est de ces outils. Plus particulièrement, nous envisageons des mises en réseau additionnelles pour consolider les relations entre les membres du Partenariat, surtout ceux qui souhaitent publier d’importants résultats de recherche sur le développement. Ceci pourra alors servir de forme de diffusion et d’échange d’expérience. MRD espère également continuer à publier des nouvelles du Secrétariat pour le Partenariat de la montagne, ou de membres clés, afin d’accroître la prise de conscience.

Les efforts de CDE et MRD aboutiront ainsi à des synergies dans ce domaine. Nous invitons d’autres membres à s’aligner sur ces réseaux /effets synergiques.
