The topic of In-Situ germplasm conservation has captured a lot of attention during the past few years. Some scientists believe that InSitu conservation will be complement efficiently the efforts for ex-situ conservation, others doubt it. Several colleagues from the Andean Region and abroad are working on this research topic. The in situ fora have been carried every two years since 1995. The format is that of a regular Scientific Meeting . Previous response has motivated us to organize a fourth forum on the subject of InSitu Conservation within an E-conference mode. We will have a Program as if we were together in a face-to-face meeting somewhere in the world. The scope of the conference is global.
You can consult the structure and content of previous events at : http://www.condesan.org/rta/foro.htm
We wish to extend our base of participants helping them to improve their connectivity during the E-Conference. We will select some special cases that will require support to connect from remote rural regions, and we will try to provide technical support to facilitate their participation.
| OBJECTIVES: |
Write specific experiences in the field about aspects related to in-situ
conservation, emphasizing cases of agrobiodiversity The
description can include the socio-economic context; cultivars and
its varieties, production types, seed flow and marketing, usage, etc.
The contribution can be in the form of regular articles or as short technical notes.
Evaluate in a critical way the methodology of monitoring the temporal and
spacial dynamics of phenotypes or varieties under in-situ
conditions at the farm , local, regional o national levels.
Publish the results of the workshop in electronic and/or printed form.
The in-situ conservation cases that were presented, the methodological articles and some discussion papers that were presented in the previous InSitu95, InSitu97 and InSitu 99 E-Conferences are avaialble in the Virtual Library of CONDESAN at :
The abstracts of the InSitu95 E-Conference articles are available at URL: http://www.condesan.org/Biodiver/InSitu/insit95s.htm
