Workshop on IN SITU Germplasm Conservation 95

"The subject of insitu germplasm conservation has brought a lot of attention in the last years. Some scientists are confident this method will complement ex-situ conservation efforts effectively ; others doubt it. This and the fact that several collegues in the Andean zone are starting this type of research prompted us to set up this conference.

We are also trying the electronic mail route as a means to communicate our work. We are using a rigid schedule much as if we were together in a usual research meeting at some place in the world.

The ACTUAL cases of in situ conservation as they are being carried out that have been presented, the methodological papers, and a few discussion papers form the gist of our program."
