WEEK 1: Comment by J.L. Burga to the article by J.Andrade

"Virus cleaning and restitution of healthy seed to potato producers for subsistence in Jujuy, Argentina"

I consider that the project is of high importance because of the orientation that it had, which will allow to face the diverse problems  affecting potato crops in the north of Argentina, and because it will try to preserve the valuable germplasm, developing a seed production system of high quality from local varieties highly appreciated by the local habitant of that region.

However, I think it is necessary that in the project it should be considered a short paragraph of "Milestones", in order to foresee what goals they expect to reach and to facilitate the evaluation of the project and verify its effectiveness.

I also missed some details regarding the duration of campaigns or during how many years will the quality seed will "delivered", and how many individual benefitiaries will be attended during a specific period of time. Besides this, what are the costs of the pre-basic seed for the farmer. I think this will be very important, in order to evaluate the socio-economic impact of this project.

SEMANA 1: Comentario de J.L. Burga a la ponencia de J.Andrade:

"Limpieza de virus y restitución de semilla saneada de papa a productores de subsistencia de Jujuy, Argentina ".

Considero que dicho proyecto es de particular importancia debido a   la orientación que se le ha dado y que ha de permitir afrontar los diversos problemas que afectan el cultivo de la papa en el norte Argentino  y sobre todo se tratará de conservar el valioso germoplasma ,  desarrollando un sistema de producción de semilla de calidad de las  variedades locales muy apreciadas por el poblador de esa zona de producción.

Sin embargo creo necesario que en el proyecto se debería haber   considerado un breve acápite de " Metas " a fin de poder visualizar hacia donde se espera llegar y de otro lado que permita realizar la evaluación  del proyecto y comprobar la efectividad del mismo.

Tal vez involuntariamente se haya omitido indicar por cuanto tiempo ó campañas ó años se ha de " entregar " ó " distribuir " la se milla de  calidad y a cuantos beneficiarios individuales ó asociados se estará   atendiendo en un período de tiempo y de otro lado a que costo recibe el agricultor la semilla prebásica. Pienso que esto sería de importancia, para  conocer el impacto socioeconómico del proyecto.
