SEMANA 6: Maria Scurrah "Comentario al articulo de M.Choquevilca"

Le felicitio por su interesante diagnositco sobre los valles en Andinos de Jujuy, con algunos elementos de us diagnostico coincidente con nuestra observaciones en el Peru Central.

Mis preguntas son las siguientes:

* Si en estos lugares donde un porcentaje alto de los cultivos son dedicados al autoconsumo, y se siembran papas, ollucos quinoa, habas etc., entonces porque casi el 30% de los ninhos son diagnositcados con desnutricion?. Intutivamenteme me parece que las poblaciones de la periferia de las ciudades deberian ser las desnutridas ya que compran sus alimentos, y pienso entonces que habria un enfasis en una dieta barata basada en fideos y arroz? Pensaria que los ninhos criados en estas zonas altoandinas no deberian exhibir desnutricion. Entonces porque los indices altos de desnutricion y que intervencion se sugiere para modificar esto?

* Todas las papas son Andigenas? Me sorprenderia que no hubiese otras especies como juzepczukii, curtilobum? (amargas) chauchas, phurejas, etc.

* El gran mercado que compra variedades nuevas podria ser manipulado para darle un valor agregado a las papas nativas, como lo vimos en el proyect de las papas Chilotas?

* Que Ph tienen en general los suelos? Aparentemente los suelos acidos inhiben la descomposicion de materia organica?

WEEK 6: M.Scurrah, "Comments to the article of M.Choquevilca"

Congratulate her for the interesting diagnosis on the Andean valleys of Jujuy, with some elements of their diagnosis coincidental with our observations in Central Peru.

My questions are the following ones:

* If in these places where a high percentage of the crops are devoted to personal consumption, and there are planted potatoes, ullucos quinoa, beans etc. then because almost 30% of the children are diagnosed with `malnutrition`. It seems to me that the populations of the periphery of the cities should be the malnourished since they purchase its food, and feed them with an emphasis on an inexpensive diet based on noodles and rice? 

I think that the children bred in these high-andean zones should not exhibit `malnutrition`. Then why does it show high indexes of `malnutrition` and what intervention is suggested in order to modify this? * Are all the potatoes Andigenas? It would surprise me that there are not others species such as: juzepczukii, curtilobum? (bitter) chauchas, phurejas etc.

* The big market that purchases new varieties could be modified in order to give a value added to the native potatoes, as learned from the project of the Chilotas potatoes?

* What is the PH level of the soils? Apparently the acid soils inhibit the decomposition of organic matter?
